When and how do I pay?

Payment is expected once the job is completed. We carry with us an Eftpos machine capable of credit card transactions; we also accept bank transfer. We would prefer to not deal with cash, but we do accept it.

What items are not accepted?

· LPG gas bottles, or anything highly flammable / combustible.

· Paint, engine oil or "industrial fluids".

· Perishable foods

· Dirty Garden Equipment: Our Box truck is cleaned for you and the next customer; it is not a good idea to put dirty garden equipment in the same box as your beds and furniture.

Are there any hidden fees or charges?

No there are not. Our simple and straight-forward pricing structure is only the hourly rate nothing else.

What do I need to prepare to be ready?

Big Camel can enter a home that hasn’t been prepared what-so-ever, and meticulously organize all household goods, package them into labelled boxes, dismantle all furniture, empty clothing wardrobes, dressers, and just about anything you can think of, so rest assured.

How does pricing work?

Because of the nature of home relocation, every job is different, and our pricing system is tailored to the realities of home relocation.

We work off the different hourly rates for the different teams you choose for your home relocation. We will charge from when we leave our depot (Eastern Suburbs) until the job is completed + reasonable travel time back. This is the most honest and transparent way for us to charge, and it will only cost however big your home relocation is.

Our estimates are based on standard conditions, but real-world factors often affect the final cost.

How will I know when the team is coming?

When the team are on their way, we will send you a text, accompanied by a GPS navigation photo, showing our accurate ETA.

How do you protect my furniture and belongings?

We blanket protection wrap extremely thoroughly. We are Wellington’s best rated moving company, for a reason. We go the extra mile to protect your household goods.

We use blankets, industrial rubber bands, shrink wrap and tape to secure all furniture, and household goods. For more precious items, like China, TV’s ect. We box these with specialist cartons, bubble wrap and packing paper.

What happens in the case of any damages?

It is very, very rare for our professional handlers to make a mistake - but you can rest assured knowing we offer full coverage insurance.

If insurance was not organized prior to your home relocation, the Big Camel team will hold no liability for any damage caused, and all services are performed at owner’s risk, as per our terms & conditions.

It is recommended to organize insurance with your own provider or with Big Camel before working with us.

Do you sell boxes?

Yes, we do. Please get in touch with our reception for more details.

Do you offer storage?

Big Camel offers full service moving, which means we can also store your household goods for as long as you want in our high security, storage facility. We are currently offering 1-month free storage. Visit our storage page or give us a ring for more details.

I am concerned about tricky access. What should I do?

Wellington… We have completed thousands of successful moves in Wellington, we are very accustomed to its unique terrain. Don’t worry, the Big Camel team can get it done.

What happens if the weather is very bad on the moving day?

If possible, we like to postpone bookings, but if this is not an option for you, we will move you anyway. Pilots must take off and land their planes in the bad weather, and so do we.

I have some extra stuff, is this okay?

The beauty of our hourly rate pricing system is that no matter how much extra items you have, we can take it, but if we are on a time crunch to get to the next job, we will postpone moving any extra items to another day.

Do my dressers need to be emptied?

This is completely fine, but if the dressers are loaded too heavy to move, we will empty them and pack them into boxes, as it is unnecessary to carry heavier than usual furniture, when we have excellent packing and boxing options.

I have dogs, is this okay?

The Big Camel team loves our canine friends! As long as the dog is not hostile or loud, we have no problem.

I am dealing with settlement & move-in in the same day, is this possible?

Yes it is, but it is extremely important that you make us aware of these circumstances. This type of home relocation needs to be planned beforehand to ensure a smooth operation.

What happens if a job is halfway done and it's getting late?

Some moves can become delayed or take much longer than expected due to circumstances outside of our control. Luckily, there are several different techniques and "tricks" up our sleeve when it comes to this sort of issue.

· We offer after-hours service. The pricing is time and a half for any work done past 6:00pm.

· We offer overnight storage in the truck for $95 + gst. If after-hours service is unaffordable and we run out of time to unload, we can head home and postpone the unload and move into another day.

· We also offer 1-month free storage! *

Worst case scenario we can use techniques and assets like these to work around a time crunch, and to make sure your move still gets complete to a high-standard.
